Rainiers Blank 51s In Series Finale, 4-0

TACOMA, Wash. - Tacoma Rainiers (75-55) pitchers allowed just three hits as the club blanked the Las Vegas 51s (61-70), 4-0, on Tuesday night at Cheney Stadium.

In a spot start, Tacoma's Paul Fry worked 3.0 scoreless innings without yielding a hit. He struck out four and did not factor into the decision.

Winning pitcher Emilio Pagan (1-1) allowed just three hits over 2.2 innings of work - the effort earned him his first career Triple-A win. Pat Venditte and David Rollins covered the final 3.1 innings of the night, combining for four strikeouts while allowing just one baserunner.

Tacoma was led offensively by designated hitter Dae-Ho Lee (2x3, HR, 2 RBI), right fielder James Ramsey (2x2), and left fielder Stefen Romero (1x3, HR, 2 RBI).

The Rainiers first two hits of the night were back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off the bats of Romero and Lee. Romero's two-run blast and Lee's solo shot, both of which sailed over the left-center field wall, put the Rainiers on top of the 51s, 3-0.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning the Rainiers loaded the bases on a single from center fielder Daniel Robertson and back-to-back walks. Lee proceeded to draw a bases-loaded walk, extending Tacoma's lead to 4-0.

Tacoma travels to face the Reno Aces in a critical five-game Pacific Northern Division matchup starting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 24. Right-hander Zach Lee (0-6, 5.45) will make the start for the Rainiers, while the Aces are expected to turn to righty Matt Koch (2-2, 2.54). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.
