September 2, 2016

BOISE, ID. - The Everett AquaSox secured their sixth straight series win by a final of 7-4 on Thursday night before a crowd of 3,494 at Memorial Stadium in Boise. With the win, the AquaSox (43-29) have now won one more game than last year's playoff squad.

Matt Festa (6-2) looked good in his final tuneup prior to the playoffs. The right-hander went five innings, allowed five hits, two runs, one walk and struck out a season-high nine batters.

Left-handed reliever Lane Ratliff turned in his third stellar outing in a row retiring six of the seven batters he faced while striking out four. AquaSox pitchers finished with 14 strikeouts. Marvin Gorgas worked a ninth-inning for his fifth save, his second in back-to-back nights.

The Hawks were also unable to overcome six errors that led to four unearned AquaSox runs.

Bryson Brigman, Eric Filia, José Leal and Joe Venturino had two hits apiece for the AquaSox who finished with 11. Austin Grebeck tripled and scored it in the fifth inning to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.

With the Tacoma Rainiers clinching a playoff spot on Thursday night, seven Mariners minor league affiliates have qualified for the postseason.
