Playoff Baseball Returns to First Tennessee Park Friday

Fireworks, Goodlettsville All-Stars, U.S. Marines Highlight First Playoff Game

The American Conference Finals between the Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City Dodgers return to First Tennessee Park Friday night for game three.

The Sounds lead the best-of-five series, 1-0, after a 10-7 win in Oklahoma City last night. Nashville has not hosted a Pacific Coast League playoff game since the 2007 season, when the Sounds lost in the American Conference Finals to the New Orleans Zephyrs.

Festivities will begin early Friday when gates open at 6:00 p.m. Below is a preview of the night:

Friday, September 9 vs. Oklahoma City - 7:05 p.m.

  • Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
  • Dueling Pianos pre-game and in-game performances. Fans can request their favorite song of any genre to be played by a pair of performers on two baby grand pianos!
  • The Goodlettsville Little League All-Stars, the U.S. runner-up in the recent Little League World Series, will be honored pre-game. Goodlettsville players will take the field just before the Sounds starting nine takes their position.
  • United States Marines will present the colors and sing "The Star Spangled Banner" as part of Marine Week.
  • The Nashville Indie Band "ELEL" will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and will lead "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch.
  • FOX17 post-game fireworks presented by Koorsen Fire & Security.

Games four and five will be played at First Tennessee Park if necessary. Game four would be played on Saturday, September 10 at 7:05 p.m. Game five would follow, if necessary, on Sunday, September 11 at 6:35 p.m.

The 2016 season is the Sounds' 19th year in the Pacific Coast League and their second as the Oakland Athletics' top affiliate.
