Tides Crash Tribe in Rout

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians saw their six-game winning streak disappear in an 11-4 loss to the Norfolk Tides on Friday night at Victory Field. A three-run homer by Drew Dosch in the fifth broke a 3-3 tie, and the rout was on for the visitors who leveled the series at one game apiece.

The Tides (15-19) overcame a 3-2 deficit with four runs in the sixth against Angel Sánchez, the final three coming on Dosch's first home run of the season - a two-out blast that snuck over the right-field wall. Prior to the three-run tater, Mike Yastrzemski singled to center to even the game at three.
A two-out single by Erich Weiss in the home half brought Indy (14-17) back within two at 6-4, but Norfolk erupted in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs to make it 11-4. The Tides tallied just two hits in the frame but sent 11 batters to the plate, thanks to five walks issued between Sanchez and Pat Light.
Norfolk grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first against Tribe starter Cody Dickson. Singles by Michael Bourn, Johnny Giavotella and Robert Andino gave the Tides a 1-0 advantage, and a bases-loaded free pass to Yastrzemski - Dickson's third of the inning - pushed their lead to two.
Brett McKinney was summoned from the bullpen and stranded the bases loaded, setting up what turned out to be a stellar relief performance from the former Ohio State Buckeye. He went on to toss 3.1 scoreless innings with five punchouts, and the Indians' offense came alive against Jordan Kipper, scoring once in the first, second and third innings to sneak in front, 3-2.
Kipper (1-0), making his Triple-A and Orioles' organizational debut, fired five innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits. He walked one and struck out three. Sanchez (1-3) was tagged with the loss after surrendering seven earned runs in two-plus innings.
Norfolk's Stefan Crichton recorded the final nine outs, resulting in his first save of the season.
Indianapolis and Norfolk continue their four-game series with game three on Saturday night at Victory Field. The Indians will send right-hander Drew Hutchison (1-1, 4.28) to the mound, opposite Tides left-hander Jayson Aquino (1-2, 5.06). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
