Indians Rally from Deficit but Hens Win in 12 Innings

TOLEDO, OHIO -Anderson Feliz homered and drove in three runs to help lead a dramatic comeback, but the Indianapolis Indians were outlasted by the Toledo Mud Hens in 12 innings on Monday night, 5-4.

TOLEDO, OHIO -Anderson Feliz homered and drove in three runs to help lead a dramatic comeback, but the Indianapolis Indians were outlasted by the Toledo Mud Hens in 12 innings on Monday night, 5-4.

The Indians (31-25) entered the top of the third inning with a 2-0 deficit, but Feliz sliced a run off when he hit a solo home run to left-center field. It was Feliz's third homer of the year.
Toledo (25-30) answered quickly and pushed the advantage to three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Efren Navarro led off with a walk and moved to third when Michael Almanzar doubled. Jason Krizan plated both runners after he lined a double to right field.
The score remained 4-1 until the top of the seventh. With one out, three consecutive singles loaded the bases for Feliz. He delivered a double to left-center field that scored Joey Terdoslavich and Barrett Barnes. Feliz's second extra-base hit of the night cut the lead to 4-3.
Feliz was in the thick of another rally when the Tribe tied the game in the ninth. With the Indians down to their final out, Feliz doubled to right-center field. Gift Ngoepe followed with a single through the left side to score Feliz and it knotted the game up, 4-4.
Neither team was able to push across a run in the 10th or 11th innings, but the Hens walked off with the victory in the bottom of the 12th. Matt den Dekker lined a single to center and stole second one out later. Navarro then drove a single to right field to end the game.
Jeff Ferrell (2-0) worked a scoreless top of the 12th for Toledo to earn the win. Starter Matthew Boyd allowed three runs over six and one-third innings in his first start since being optioned from the Detroit Tigers.
Edgar Santana (1-1) conceded the winning run after getting four outs. It was the only run over seven innings the Tribe bullpen allowed. The defeat snapped a 15-game winning streak for the Tribe in games Jacob Stallings had started.
Game two of the series is set for Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Steven Brault (3-3, 2.20) will start for Indianapolis.
