Muno Strong In Rainiers 9-5 Loss To Bees

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Tacoma Rainiers (61-62) dropped their series opener to the Salt Lake Bees (62-61) on Tuesday night at Smith's Ballpark, falling by a final score of 9-5.
Tacoma starting pitcher Evan Marshall worked 2.0 innings in a spot start for the Rainiers. He allowed two runs on four hits (one home run) while walking one and striking out three.

Third baseman Danny Muno led the Rainiers offense with a 3-for-4 performance that included two doubles, one run scored, and one RBI. First baseman Shawn O'Malley (2x5, 2B), shortstop Taylor Motter (2x4, RBI), and designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach (2x4, 2 RBI, BB) all collected multiple hits.
The Rainiers claimed an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Muno doubled to open the frame and came around to score two batters later on an RBI single to right field from left fielder Ian Miller. Motter chipped in later in the frame with a sacrifice fly to left.
Salt Lake mounted a quick response, rallying for two runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 2-2. Nolan Fontana put the Bees on the board with a solo home run to deep right field, and Eric Young Jr. capped the rally with an RBI single.
Tacoma retook the lead in the top of the third - a double roped down the left field line by Muno scored second baseman Gordon Beckham all the way from first base and put the Rainiers out in front, 3-2.
The Rainiers grabbed another run of the evening in the top of the fourth. Center fielder Zach Shank kicked off the inning with a triple to left center and was driven in on an RBI single from Vogelbach, giving Tacoma a 4-2 lead.
Salt Lake tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth, and pulled away with five runs over the next three innings to sink the Rainiers.

Tacoma right-hander Tyler Cloyd (1-1, 6.21) and Salt Lake southpaw John Lamb (3-2, 6.90) face off as the Rainiers and Bees continues their series on Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. PT.
