Midland, TX-The Travelers rallied from five runs down to tie in the ninth inning but fell in the bottom of the ninth to the Midland RockHounds, 6-5 on Friday night in the series opener. It was a game of frustration for the Travs who had their leadoff man on base in every inning from the second through the ninth and went 3-14 with runners in scoring position leading to 12 men left on base.
Moments That Mattered

  • Midland posted five runs in the first four innings of the game in building a big lead.
  • In the eighth, Arkansas loaded the bases with none out but was only able to score on a sacrifice fly from Marcus Littlewood.
  • Willie Argo blasted a 3-2 pitch with two out in the ninth for a two run double and then two hitters later came home on the second of two RockHounds errors to tie the game.
  • Tyler Marincov roped an RBI double to open the bottom of the ninth. A controversial call moved the pinch-runner to third as the Travs tried to get that runner on a bunt. One batter later, Jorge Mateo's hit to right-center ended the game.
