Sixers on Wong End of Finale at Rancho Cucamonga

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino were fell for the third consecutive game at the hands of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes with a 9-8 loss at LoanMart Field on Sunday. Jared Walsh homered twice and knocked in four runs for the 66ers but Conner Wong drilled a pair of homers and doubled while driving in five for the Quakes. Both Wong and Walsh had three homers in the series.
Inland Empire (5-6) was poised to leave the Quakes behind in the eighth inning with runners at first and second base and Luis Rengifo at the plate. The Sixers' shortstop, who already had three hits in the game including a triple, whistled a ball to the gap with IE leading 7-6. Quakes (5-6) right fielder Logan Landon sprinted and made a spectacular diving catch to rob Rengifo of his fourth hit and the Sixers of a potential big inning. Wong then took full advantage in the bottom of the eighth his three-run homer (5) for a 9-7 advantage. The 66ers made it interesting in the ninth scoring a run but Evy Ruibal came in and got a lineout to third with two men on base to earn his first save in his Cal League debut. DJ Jenkins had three hits for the Sixers while Richie Fecteau and Brandon Sandoval each had two hits. Rylan Bannon was 4-for-5 for Rancho Cucamonga. Nolan Long (1-0) got the win for the Quakes with 2.2IP allowing no runs and fanning four. Greg Belton (0-1) was charged with the loss for the Sixers.
