TOLEDO, OHIO - Eric Wood clubbed his first home run of the year and added two doubles as the Indianapolis Indians amassed seven extra-base knocks to defeat the Toledo Mud Hens on Monday night, 10-7.

The Detroit Tigers recalled scheduled Toledo (15-7) starter Chad Bell before the game, and the Indians (11-10) offense took advantage of the bullpen day in the top of the first inning. The Tribe pushed five runs across the plate in the frame as José Osuna and Jacob Stallings each collected run-scoring doubles to spearhead the scoring.
Toledo would not go quietly, and the Hens plated a pair in both the first and third innings to cut the Tribe lead to one. Christin Stewart's two-run home run to right field in the bottom of the third trimmed the lead to 5-4.
Indianapolis immediately answered with four in the fourth. Osuna knocked in the first run with a single before two outs were recorded. Wood stepped up to the plate with the Tribe at risk of leaving two more runners aboard, but Wood lined a homer off signage well beyond the left-field wall for his first home run of the season to expand Indy's lead to 9-4.
Osuna added his third home run of the season in the eighth to pad the Tribe's lead. Toledo scored three in the eighth but inched no closer.
Tyler Eppler (3-1) worked six innings for the second consecutive start and earned the win. He fanned five and walked just two opposing batters.
Fill-in starter Paul Voelker (0-2) allowed the five-run first inning and took the loss.
Indy and Toledo play game two of the series Tuesday night, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. The team returns to Victory Field on Thursday for a four-game homestand.
