METAIRIE, La. - The Tacoma Rainiers (52-54) dropped a rain-shortened contest to the New Orleans Baby Cakes (50-56) on Saturday night at the Shrine on Airline.
Shortstop Gordon Beckham led the way on offense for the Rainiers, finishing the seven-inning contest going 2-for-3 with a run scored, a double, two RBI, and a walk. Third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (1x3, 2B) smacked a double to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

Mike Morin made a spot start for the Tacoma bullpen day and worked two scoreless outings in just his second start of the year. He issued three walks and struck out one on 30 pitches (16 strikes) and did not factor into the decision.
Darin Gillies (1-1) relieved Morin and allowed five runs on six hits over two innings of relief - he took his first loss of the year and struck out two. Steven Moyers, promoted from Single-A Clinton earlier in the day, finished off the night with two scoreless frames - he allowed just one hit and struck out one.
Tacoma and New Orleans continue their series on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. PT. Rainiers right-hander Christian Bergman (6-8, 5.38) will face off against Baby Cakes righty Tyler Cloyd (2-3, 4.88).
