In the top of the second inning off of Cardinals starting pitcher Chen-Wei Lin, Jupiter struck first again as Yeral Martinez drove in Mark Coley II on an RBI triple. Ryan Ignoffo followed that by driving in Martinez on an RBI groundout making it a 2-0 early Jupiter lead.
Lin touched 100 miles per hour on the fastball several times and finished his outing with four innings pitched and allowed two earned runs with three strikeouts while earning a no-decision.
Miami Marlins No. 1 prospect (according to MLB Pipeline) Noble Meyer got the start for Jupiter and worked three scoreless innings to begin his outing. But in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Cardinals loaded the bases with two outs and Maikel Hernandez tied the ballgame 2-2 on a two-RBI single. Meyer finished with a no-decision on 3 2/3 innings pitched, two earned runs, three walks and five strikeouts.
The score remained 2-2 until the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, Cardinals right fielder Brayden Jobert singled turning the lineup over. Then, Cardinals 2023 first-round draft pick Chase Davis roped a double at 110.2 mph off the bat to bring in Jobert and give Palm Beach a 3-2 lead which held on to be the final score.
Benjamin Arias (1-0) earned the victory after tossing five scoreless innings in relief and allowed just one hit and one walk while with four strikeouts. Davis finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and drove in the game-winning RBI.
