TROY, NY- The Frontier League of Professional Baseball and the Tri-City ValleyCats unveiled the team’s 2023 regular season schedule in a league-wide reveal on Monday. The ‘Cats are slated to play 51 games at home this season. For the first time since the team joined the Frontier League, Opening Day baseball will be played in Troy, NY when the ValleyCats take on the Trois-Rivieres Aigles on Friday, May 12. Other highlights include an Independence Day matchup with the Empire State Greys, continuing the tradition of America’s pastime in Uncle Sam’s home on the 4th of July, and four six-game homestands.

After 2022 brought six new opponents to “The Joe” for the first time, 2023 will bring four new opponents to the Capital Region for their first-ever visits. Tri-City’s home schedule includes three-game visits from the Florence Y’Alls (June 16-18), the Evansville Otters (July 14-16), the Schaumburg Boomers (June 27-29), and the Joliet Slammers (July 25-27). The 2023 season will also bring about the ValleyCats’ first visits to the Windy City ThunderBolts (May 23-25), the Gateway Grizzlies (June 9-11), and the Lake Erie Crushers (July 28-30). Following the season, the ValleyCats will have taken on each Frontier League team at “The Joe” and on the road at least once, with the exception of the Empire State Greys, who return as a travel team for the second straight season.

The ValleyCats will visit the New Jersey Jackals in their new home, the historic Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, NJ, for the first time on June 30 for the teams’ first meeting of the season. The stadium has hosted a variety of sports and events since opening in 1932, and was the home to the New York Cubans, the New York Black Yankees, and the Newark Eagles. Over 20 Hall of Famers have taken the field at Hinchliffe Stadium. 2023 will be the first time professional baseball is played within the walls of Hinchliffe Stadium since the 1950 season.

The team’s longest road trip will be six games this year, after a ten-game road trip (originally nine games, but extended due to weather) in late August last season. The team will travel for six games on three separate occasions this season.
