Burlington, NC - The season came to an end on Wednesday night for the Burlington Royals (25-43) as they fell to the Bluefield Blue Jays (42-26) for the second night in a row.
All nine of Bluefield's runs were scored in the second through fourth innings as they ousted the Royals with a nine-run barrage.
Matt Morales hit his first home run of the season in the seventh inning, a two-run shot that gave Burlington a breath of life for a moment. The long ball wasn't enough, however, as Brooks Conrad's team couldn't end the season with a win.
The Burlington Royals are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
