ZEBULON, N.C. - The Carolina Mudcats, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, are thrilled to announce today that catcher Mario Feliciano has been named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week ending on June 9. Feliciano earned the weekly honor after hitting a league high five home runs, slugging a league best 1.286 and totaling a league high 1.786 OPS during the last week of play.

Overall, the 20-year-old Feliciano slashed .429/.500/1.286 with 27 total bases, eight runs and 11 RBI, all of which were also league highs, during the last week of games running from June 3 through June 9. He also totaled nine hits, including a double and a triple, two walks and three strikeouts over 23 plate appearances.
The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native began his incredible week going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI and two home runs versus the Frederick Keys on June 3 at Five County Stadium. Feliciano's multi-homer game on June 3 was his second of the season and it gave him sole possession of the league lead in homers as he clubbed, at the time, his 10th and 11th big flies of the season. Feliciano, however, would go on to add to that lead while hitting home runs in each of his next three games while homering in four straight overall between June 3 and June 7.

Feliciano went 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple, a home run and two RBI on June 4 versus Frederick, 2-for-4 with two runs, a home run and two RBI on June 6 versus Salem, and 1-for-3 with two runs, a home run and three RBI on June 7 versus Salem at Five County Stadium. The Red Sox eventually held him without a hit on June 8, but he would come back with a run scoring double while going 1-for-3 with a RBI on Sunday, June 9 in Carolina's series and home stand finale versus Salem at Five County Stadium.
In all, Feliciano totaled five home runs during his home run binge between June 3 and June 7 while bringing his league leading homer total to 14 on the season. He also moved to the top spot in the league in RBI (47) and total bases (117) thanks to his award winning week of play.
At the time of the announcement, Feliciano was slashing .281/.333/.539 with a .873 OPS over 58 games this season with Carolina. He is also currently tied for the league lead in extra-base hits (27), second in slugging (.539), second in OPS (.873) and ninth in runs scored (35).
Milwaukee selected Feliciano with their Round B Competitive Balance round pick in the 2016 Draft out of the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy in Puerto Rico. He was limited due to injury to just 42 games last season with Carolina, but has since returned while turning in a breakout season with the Mudcats. Through 58 games, Feliciano has already established career highs in home runs and RBI so far this season. Feliciano is currently rated as the No. 14 prospect in the Brewers minor league system per MLB.com.
Feliciano is the second Mudcats player to earn player of the week honors this season. RHP Dylan File also earned Pitcher of the Week honors earlier this season for the week of April 22 through April 28.
