Columbus tips Toledo 2-1

Clutch hitting, pitching good recipe for Clippers win

In the penultimate game of the 2013 season, Columbus hung on for a 2-1 victory over Toledo at Huntington Park.

The Mud Hens jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an Argenis Diaz RBI single in the top of the second. In the bottom half of the frame, Omir Santos tied the game at 1-1 with a bloop RBI single to left.

 Yoxhian Medna then gave the Clippers a 2-1 lead with with two out RBI double down the left field line in the bottom of the fifth. On the mound, Josh Tomlin was solid, holding Toledo to one run on four hits while striking out five in five innings of work.

Bryan Price was called upon to nail down the win for Columbus in the top of the ninth. The Hens had runners on the corners with two outs, but Price stayed composed as he tallied his second save of 2013. TomlIn (W, 2-0) got the win for Columbus. Jair Jurrjens (L, 7-10) was hit with the loss for Toledo.

For the final time in 2013, the Clippers will take to the diamond as they play one more game against Toledo. The lefty T.J. House (7-10, 4.13) will get the start for Columbus. Righty Jon Link (0-4, 5.21) will get the ball for the Hens. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 PM.
