Bieber Does as Bieber Does in Game Two Win

The Columbus Clippers combined the power they've been waiting all year for with a fantastic start from Shane Bieber to defeat the Louisville Bats in game two of their four-game series tonight at Louisville Slugger Field.
A two-run homerun from first baseman Adam Rosales and a Todd Hankins RBI single provided sparks the Clippers would need, as they went on to topple the Bats, 6-2, behind another exquisite effort on the mound by Bieber.

Rosales gave the Clippers the early advantage after Todd Hankins reached on a fielding error to lead off the third inning. With one out, Rosales spun on a Cody Reed offering, sending it over the left field wall for a 2-0 lead.
Hankins provided what would end up being the game-winning hit with a RBI single off Reed in the seventh inning after Yu Chang led off with a double and was bunted to third by Mike Papi.
Though Reed would continue into the eighth inning, he handed a two-on, two-out situation to Domingo Tapia, who allowed the fourth Clippers' run via a passed ball. Brandon Barnes then tripled in Tyler Naquin on a long fly off the centerfield wall, extending the lead to 5-0.
That was all Bieber would need, as he made it into the eighth before giving up his first run of the game. With runners on second and third, Nick Senzel grounded out to first, scoring one to make it 5-1.
Bieber would hand the ball off to Jeff Beliveau after that.
Josh VanMeter proceeded to single in another off Beliveau, making it 5-2 and closing the book on Shane Bieber, who have up two runs (one earned) on five hits in his seven and one-third innings. He walked one and struck out five.
Louisville would not be done in the eighth, as they went on to load the bases against Beliveau. He was relieved by Luke Eubank with one out, and Eubank escaped the jam by rolling up a double play to end the inning.
The Clippers tacked on one more in the top of the ninth after Papi led off with a double and was moved to third by a Hankins bunt. The next batter, Eric Haase, drove a sacrifice fly ball to right to bring in Papi for a 6-2 lead.
Eubank finished things off for the Clippers in the bottom of the ninth to secure the game two victory.
The teams will face off tomorrow night at Louisville Slugger field, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
