McCain Single Gives Tigers Walk-Off Win in Home Finale

Two-out rally in tenth sends Connecticut over Brooklyn, 4-3

NORWICH, CT- Garrett McCain laced a single to right field to drive in Andres Sthormes with two outs in the bottom of the tenth to give the Connecticut Tigers a walk-off win over the Brooklyn Cyclones in the final game of the season at Dodd Stadium, 4-3.
The winning rally began with two outs when Sthormes drove a base hit into left field. Cole Peterson followed with a double to right, and McCain ended it with a soft liner into right field to give Connecticut (37-35) two out of three over the Cyclones.
After Brooklyn jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, Sthormes drove in Ignacio Valdez with a base hit to tie it in the third. After the Tigers took the lead in the fourth without the benefit of a hit, Colby Bortles launched hi third home run of the season to left in the sixth to pad the lead to 3-1. 
Brooklyn pecked away at the lead, scoring single runs in the seventh and eighth to send it to extras, setting the scene for McCain's tenth inning heroics.
Will Vest (2-1) threw two perfect innings to get the win.
Connecticut, who finished 19-16 at Dodd Stadium this year, will hit the road to Troy, NY for the final two games of the season Wednesday and Thursday at 6:30. Both games can be heard on 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com
