Doubledays beat Muckdogs, Win Series

AUBURN, NY - The Doubledays (2-1) defeated the Batavia Muckdogs (1-2) 6-3 at Falcon Park to claim the series.

Auburn scored early and often as the Doubledays plated four runs in the bottom of the second. The Doubledays started the inning off with three consecutive singles. Wilman Rodriguez slapped a single and a throwing error by the shortstop Javier Lopez allowed Bryan Lippincott to score. Isaac Ballou later cranked a single to left field that allowed Rodriguez to score.

Ballou had a big night at the plate for Auburn going 1-3 with two runs driven in. The former Marshall standout also had two walks and scored a run. Todd Simko (1-0) picked up his first win of the season pitching two innings of relief. Simko fanned five and allowed one run on two hits.

The Doubledays return to action tomorrow night as the State College Spikes come into town for a three game series at Falcon Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 with Deion Williams getting the start on the mound.
