Dust Devils Fall to Hops

August 13, 2017

[Empty Body]

The Tri-City Dust Devils (9-8, 29-26) could not mount a comeback on Saturday night at Gesa Stadium as the team lost to the 5-3 to the Hillsboro Hops. Both Luis Asuncion and Tre Carter led the Dust Devils at the plate with two hits in the loss.
Tri-City was able to jump out to an early lead in the bottom of the third inning. The Dust Devils rallied with two outs and scored two runs to jump out ahead of Hillsboro. Tri-City starter Tom Cosgrove retired the first batters that he faced in order. Cosgrove ran into trouble in the fifth inning. He surrendered four runs, only two of them earned, allowing the Hops to take a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the night. The Dust Devils allowed only two hits in the fifth inning to Hillsboro, but two earns, two walks, a hit batter, and a wild pitch proved to be costly. Despite the loss, Tri-City remains in a tie for first place in the North Division.
Left-hander Nick Margevicius will start the middle game of the five-game series on Sunday night. Hillsboro will counter with right-hander Tyler Keele. It will be Team Photo Giveaway Night at Gesa Stadium. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
