Dust Devils Fall to Hops

The Tri-City Dust Devils (9-8, 29-26) could not mount a comeback on Saturday night at Gesa Stadium as the team lost to the 5-3 to the Hillsboro Hops. Both
Tri-City was able to jump out to an early lead in the bottom of the third inning. The Dust Devils rallied with two outs and scored two runs to jump out ahead of Hillsboro. Tri-City starter Tom Cosgrove retired the first batters that he faced in order. Cosgrove ran into trouble in the fifth inning. He surrendered four runs, only two of them earned, allowing the Hops to take a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the night. The Dust Devils allowed only two hits in the fifth inning to Hillsboro, but two earns, two walks, a hit batter, and a wild pitch proved to be costly. Despite the loss, Tri-City remains in a tie for first place in the North Division.
