Late Long Ball Sinks Tri-City in Opener

June 14, 2014

A three-run homer from Boise's Kyle Schwarber proved to be the difference Friday as the Tri-City Dust Devils feel on the road 4-2 to the Hawks on opening night. The Dust Devils scored both of their runs in the top of the seventh inning, which included doubles from both Trevor Story and Dillon Thomas. Schwarber's home run in the bottom of the seventh erased the Dust Devils brief lead and kept the advantage with Boise for the rest of the game.

The five-game series continues on Saturday night in Boise. Kennewick native Tony Bryant will start for Tri-City. The Dust Devils return to Gesa Stadium on Wednesday for the home opener against the Everett AquaSox. There will be a schedule magnet giveaway courtesy of Pizza Hut and postgame fireworks after the game Wednesday presented by C-O Energy. The home opener begins a eight-game homestand for the Dust Devils. Tickets for the series are available by calling (509) 544-8789 or at www.dustdevilsbaseball.com. Catch all the action on Newstalk 870 KFLD or online at www.dustdevilsbaseball.com. Pregame coverage begins at 6:00 p.m. with first pitch set for 6:15 p.m.
