Cardinals Avenge Doubleheader Sweep With Game 3 Win

JOHNSON CITY, TN - After being swept in a doubleheader by the Pirates in games one and two of the series. The Cardinals avenged their doubleheader loss with a 4-2 win over the Pirates in game three.The Cardinals started the scoring in the bottom of the second with three runs.

JOHNSON CITY, TN - After being swept in a doubleheader by the Pirates in games one and two of the series. The Cardinals avenged their doubleheader loss with a 4-2 win over the Pirates in game three.
The Cardinals started the scoring in the bottom of the second with three runs. AndrewWarner started the inning with a walk. DarielGomez followed up with a fielder's choice, but Warner was safe at second on a bad throw from Pirates' pitcher Roger Santana. MichaelPerri then singled to load the bases for ZachJackson. Jackson hit a solid line drive down the right field line for a three-RBI double (11) to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. 
DionisZamora started the game for the Cardinals. Zamora went six innings, surrendered five hits, two earned runs and had six strikeouts. Zamora would take his first win of the season and first win with Johnson City.
The Pirates answered with one in the third and one in the fifth to cut the lead to 3-2 in favor of the Cardinals. In the bottom of the fifth, MoisesCastillo walked with one out and stole second during LiamSabino's at-bat. Sabino walked but was thrown out at second when JonatanMachado hit into a fielder's choice. Castillo was able to reach third and scored on a wild pitch during BrandonRiley's at-bat to give the Cardinals a 4-2 lead. The scoring stopped after the bottom of the fifth, and the Cardinals took the win.
The Cardinals used one reliever after DionisZamora. EvanSisk came in the game in the seventh inning for the nine out save. Sisk went three innings, and gave up only two hits. He also tallied five strikeouts and notched his third save of the season.
The finale between the Cardinals and Pirates is set for 11:30 a.m. tomorrow for Education Day!
