JOHNSON CITY, TN - The Johnson City Cardinals were looking to get back in the win column against the first place Bluefield Blue Jays. A three homerun and five RBI night for Kevin Woodall powered the Cardinals to a 7-5 victory for Johnson City.
Colin Schmid got the start for the Cardinals, his second start of the season. Colin did not factor in the decision. He went 4.1 innings, giving up six hits, two earned runs, and had three strikeouts. 
The Blue Jays got the scoring started in the top of the first with three runs. The Cardinals answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Kevin Woodall came up with one on and one out, and launched a two-run homerun to cut the lead 3-2.
Both teams were shut out until the fifth inning, when Bluefield scored two to increase the lead 5-2. The Cardinals followed up with a solo homerun from Kevin Woodall to cut the lead 5-3 after five innings at TVA Credit Union Ballpark. 
Johnson City shut out the Blue Jays for the rest of the game, but the Cardinals were not done. In the bottom of the seventh, Brandon Riley singled with one out. With two outs and Riley on first, Kevin Woodall blasted his third homerun, over 400 feet to dead center field at TVA Credit Union Ballpark to tie the game at five.
In the bottom of the seventh, with one out, Moises Castillo walked and Michael Perri followed with a single. Brandon Riley then walked. After a lineout from Jonatan Machado, Kevin Woodall came up and worked a bases loaded walk to take the lead 6-5. Dariel Gomez then came up with the bases loaded and was hit by a pitch. The scoring stopped at 7-5 and the Cardinals emerged victorious for their 11th victory of the season. 
The Cardinals used four pitchers after Colin Schmid. Juan Alvarez went 1.2 innings, giving up one run and one hit. Jake Sylvester relieved Alvarez, and pitched one shut out inning. Parker Kelly relieved Sylvester and pitched 1.1 innings and earned his second win of the season. Evan Sisk came on to get the final two outs, notching one strikeout and earning his first save of the season.
The final two games between the Cardinals and Blue Jays are on Thursday and Friday, both games have first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
