JOHNSON CITY, TN - The Johnson City Cardinals were defeated by the Elizabethton Twins on Tuesday night 15-1. This marks the worst loss for the Cardinals this season and the most runs and hits allowed in a game.
Tommy Parsons made his first start for the Cardinals this season on Tuesday night. He threw four innings, gave up four hits, two earned runs, and also tallied three strikeouts. Parsons got his first loss of the season, and his ERA was lowered to 5.59. 
The Twins got the scoring started with two in the first. Johnson City tried to answer, but the Cardinals could only manage one run in the third. The Twins erupted for seven runs in the fifth, three runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Cardinals used four pitchers. Edwar Ramirez relieved Tommy Parsons, and threw 0.2 innings, giving up eight hits, seven earned runs and only getting one strikeout. Junior Gonzalez came in for Edwar Ramirez and he pitched two innings, giving up five hits, six earned runs, and struck out two. Finally, Enrique Perez came in as the last Cardinals pitcher used today. Perez threw 2.1 innings, and gave up only one hit and had two strikeouts. 
The Cardinals gave up a season worst, 15 runs and 18 hits and fell to 9-10 and below .500 on the season. They still have three games to play against the Twins as part of a four-game homestand and will finish the seven-game homestand on Friday.
