The Jupiter Hammerheads and Daytona Tortugas couldn’t outlast Mother Nature on Tuesday evening at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Tuesday’s contest was suspended due to inclement weather and unplayable field conditions.

The Hammerheads and Tortugas will pick things up where they left off at 5:00 PM on Wednesday night. Going into the top of the third inning, Jupiter holds a 3-2 lead over Daytona. Tortugas third baseman Austin Callahan will lead off the continuation with the bases empty and nobody out. After Tuesday’s nine-inning game, the two teams will play a seven-inning game.

Daytona got out to an early lead before the weather picked up at RDCS. In the top of the first inning catcher Hayden Jones connected for a two-run home run to make it a 2-0 game.

Jupiter would answer with a trio of runs in the bottom of the second inning. With the bases loaded, Tanner Allen was plunked to bring home a run. Then, DH Angeudis Santos would tie up the game with a fielder’s choice that scored Carlos Santiago. To cap off the inning, Yiddi Cappe would deliver with an RBI single to give Jupiter a 3-2 lead before the delay.

Edgar Sanchez started on the mound for the Hammerheads. The righty allowed three hits and tallied two strikeouts while allowing the two-run homer before the weather arrived.

Gates will open at 4:30 PM for the doubleheader, with Tuesday’s resumption scheduled for 5:00 PM. The second game will start roughly thirty minutes after Game One and will be a seven-inning contest.

Tickets for Wednesday are still available here and will grant you access to both games!
