Jupiter, FLA - The Jupiter Hammerheads had not won a game at home since August 28, 2019. Tonight, they got back to their winning ways at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium after a 5-2 win against the Palm Beach Cardinals in the first game of the series.

Marlins No. 25 overall prospect (MLB Pipeline) Eury Perez set the tone early for the Hammerheads. The starter hit 97 MPH with his fastball and struck out two batters in the first inning. The 6-foot-8 righty finished his second start of the season after five innings, where he only allowed one hit and struck out five batters. The 18-year-old prospect is also the youngest player in the Low-A Southeast.

Offensively, JD Orr carried the load for the Hammerheads on Tuesday night. The Ohio native drove in four of Jupiter’s five runs. The righty collected his first two RBIs on a single in the second, then tacked on two more with a seventh inning triple.

Troy Johnston also had a solid offensive game. The 23-year-old crossed the plate twice for the Hammerheads and picked up an RBI on a sharp single in the second inning.

The Hammerheads will look to get another win against their Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium neighbors on Wednesday in game two of the six-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm.
