The K-Mets brought the lumber to the yard Saturday evening, as they posted 14 runs and 14 hits in a 14-6 win over the Bristol Pirates.
The Mets got things started early as they put up a two-spot in the first on a pair of RBI-doubles by Jarred Kelenic and Luis Santana.
Kingsport then blew the game wide open in the third, as they sent 13 men to the plate, batted for 29 minutes, and scored 10 runs.
Highlights of the inning included a RBI-double by Mark Vientos, a RBI-single by Kenny Hernandez, a RBI-double by Raul Beracierta, a RBI-double by Shervyen Newton, and then back-to-back home runs by Luis Santana and Vientos.
Two innings later, Mets' first round pick Jarred Kelenic added yet another home run to left, ballooning the lead out to 14.
When the dust settled, the Mets had six players with at least two hits apiece and three players with three RBIs each.
Among those with great stat lines was Kelenic who finished 2-5 with three RBIs, Santana who was 2-4 with three RBIs, and Vientos who was 3-5 with three driven in.
Daison Acosta was the beneficiary of the offensive outburst and he more than enough to earn the win. Acosta went 5.0+ innings, giving up just three hits and one run.
Bristol was able to make a late surge with a four-run eighth thanks to a couple of costly errors, but the Pirates could get no closer.
The Mets and Pirates will finish up the series tomorrow afternoon with a 4:00 matinee. Gates will open at 3:00.
