We've reached the home stretch of the 2018 campaign, and the Kingsport Mets are right in the thick of the playoff picture.
Entering play Monday, the K-Mets sit in second place in the Appalachian League West, 2.5 games behind first place Elizabethton.
In addition, Kingsport has a one-game lead on Bristol and a 2.5 game lead on Johnson City for the second and final playoff spot in the division.
With just ten games remaining on the schedule, every game is crucial, so the Mets need your support as they're set to open up their final home stand of the year tomorrow evening.
The home stand opens with a three-game series against the Bristol Pirates on Tuesday, as both teams jockey for position in the highly contested playoff race.
Tuesday night is our final $2 Tuesday of the season, where fans can partake in $2 hot dogs, sodas, and beer. In addition, if fans bring a Food City receipt to the ticket window, they will receive $2 general admission tickets (up to 4). Finally, it is our second School Spirit Night of the season where the Mets welcome students, staff, and parents from Palmer Center, Jefferson, and Johnson Elementary Schools.
Wednesday is our final School Spirit Night of the season, and the Mets are excited to welcome students, staff, and parents from Adams, Jackson, and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. All School Spirit Nights are sponsored by Kingsport City Schools.
The series finale on Thursday will feature a Kingsport Mets t-shirt giveaway for the first 300 fans, sponsored by TVA Credit Union. In addition, Thursday is JROTC Night, where the Mets will honor members of the JROTC in a special pregame ceremony.
Friday the Mets will welcome the Burlington Royals into town to open up the final home series of the year. Friday will be a historic night at Hunter Wright Stadium, as for one night only; the Kingsport Mets will change their name to the Long Island Iced Teas. The Iced Teas will be donning special uniforms, which will be sold with proceeds going to charity. In addition, the Teas will be giving away a team photo to the first 500 fans, courtesy of Chantz Scott KIA.
The fun continues Saturday as the Mets are honoring former Kingsport Brave and MLB Hall of Fame member Dale Murphy with a bobblehead. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive one of these bobbleheads courtesy of Thompson Metal Services.
The home schedule concludes on Sunday with the series finale against the Royals, with first pitch slated for 4:00 pm. It's Fan Appreciation Night, as the K-Mets will recognize and honor all of their fans.
All games except Sunday begin at 6:30, with the gates opening at 5:30. Come out and root on the K-Mets as we push for the postseason!
