Game Summary: Miguel Vargas led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a two-run home run to send the Oklahoma City Dodgers to a 3-2 walk-off win against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The teams played to a 1-1 tie through nine innings. Jason Martin gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead with a RBI single in the first inning and the Space Cowboys (41-56) answered with a solo home run by Lewis Brinson in the second inning. The Dodgers (58-39) were then held scoreless over the next eight innings and Sugar Land was held scoreless over the next seven innings. Dodgers pitchers retired 11 straight Sugar Land batters and 13 of 14 batters between the third and seventh innings. In the top of the 10th inning, Marty Costes hit a RBI single to put Sugar Land in front, 2-1. In the bottom of the inning, Vargas led off for the Dodgers, and with a designated runner on second base, hit a towering fly ball that landed in the OKC bullpen in left-center field for a two-run home run and 3-2 walk-off win.

Of Note:

-Friday was the Dodgers’ sixth walk-off victory of the season. Four of OKC’s last seven games against Sugar Land have been walk-off wins and the Dodgers’ last four walk-off victories have all come against the Space Cowboys.

-Friday was OKC’s fifth extra-inning game of the season, and second of the current series, with all five of the team’s extra-inning games being played at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Dodgers improved to 3-2 in extra-inning games, and all three of OKC’s wins in extra innings this season have been against Sugar Land.

-Drew Avans went 2-for-5, including a double in his first at-bat of the night, to extend his on-base streak to 36 games — the longest streak by a PCL player this season and the longest on-base streak in the league since El Paso’s Brian O’Grady reached base in 38 straight games June 3-Aug. 28, 2021. Avans also scored two of OKC’s three runs Friday and has the longest on-base streak by an OKC player since the 2019 season with Gavin Lux reached base in 37 consecutive games.

-Miguel Vargas went 2-for-5 with his 15th home run of the season and two RBI as he has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games, going 19-for-61 (.311). Vargas leads the PCL with 108 hits and 80 runs scored and picked up his team-leading 33rd multi-hit game of the season. He also had a stolen base Friday.

-Jason Martin finished the game 2-for-4 with a RBI and leads the Dodgers with 74 RBI this season. Friday was his fourth multi-hit outing in the last six games.

-Five Dodgers pitchers allowed a combined two runs (one earned) for the fewest runs allowed by OKC since an 8-1 victory July 13 in Tacoma. It was the third time in July the Dodgers allowed two runs or less in a game.

-The Dodgers have now won six of their last seven games and are 6-1 during the current nine-game homestand...OKC also took a 3-1 lead in the six-game series against Sugar Land.
