Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026 – Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark – Oklahoma City, Okla.

Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Comets and El Paso Chihuahuas split a Wednesday doubleheader with El Paso winning the first game, 5-4, in eight innings and the Comets winning the second game, 6-0, at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. In Game 1, the Comets scored the first run of the night in the second inning when Ryan Fitzgerald connected on a RBI single before going in front, 2-0, in the fifth inning on a RBI single by Noah Miller. The Chihuahuas answered with three RBI singles in the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead. Oklahoma City knotted the score at 3-3 with a sacrifice fly by Hyeseong Kim in the sixth inning to force extra innings. El Paso (17-36/52-76) then went back in front in the eighth inning on a RBI double by Taylor and another run scoring on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the eighth inning, James Tibbs III connected on a RBI groundout as the Comets fell one run short. In the second game, the Comets (30-23/71-56) scored three runs in the third inning. Two runs scored on a fielder’s choice coupled with a throwing error before a RBI double by Alex Freeland later in the inning boosted OKC’s lead to 3-0. Fitzgerald sent a two-run homer into the Chihuahuas bullpen in right-center field in the third inning for a 5-0 advantage. Chadwick Tromp brought in the final run of the night with a RBI single in the fourth inning. Pitchers Christian Romero and Bobby Miller combined for the Comets’ sixth shutout win of the month.

Of Note:

-The Comets played in their first doubleheader of the season as Wednesday’s pair of scheduled seven-inning games included a makeup of a game postponed July 11 due to rain…El Paso now leads the seven-game series, 2-1, following the doubleheader split.

-Game 1 extended into an extra inning for OKC’s third extra-inning game in a span of five games and first extra-inning game at home since June 18 against Sacramento (a 5-4 win in 10 innings)…OKC fell to 3-6 in extra-inning games with the Game 1 loss.

-Game 1 was decided by one run for the Comets’ third straight one-run game and sixth one-run game in a span of seven contests…Each of OKC’s last five losses have come by one run.

-In Game 2, the Comets recorded their 11th shutout victory of the season, sixth this month and fifth in the last 14 games…OKC’s 11 shutouts in 2026 are the most by the team in a single season since collecting 12 in 2016 and the most by any Pacific Coast League team since Round Rock recorded 12 during the 2019 season.

-Ryan Fitzgerald went 4-for-6 with a triple, home run and three RBI across the two games. Through the first three games of the series, he is batting .667 (6-for-9) with three extra-base hits and four RBI…He leads all Triple-A players with 145 hits this season.

-Hyeseong Kim went 3-for-5 with a triple and a RBI in Wednesday’s doubleheader. He is 6-for-9 (.667) through the first three games of the series.

-Gavin Stone continued his Major League Rehab Assignment in Game 1, tossing 4.0 scoreless innings with one hit allowed and five strikeouts. He threw 58 pitches (41 strikes) and retired 12 of the 13 batters he faced, including each of the last 10 in his fourth start of the month with the Comets… He has been on the Los Angeles Dodgers Injured List all season with right shoulder inflammation and missed the entire 2025 season while recovering from right shoulder surgery.

-Blake Treinen continued his Major League Rehab Assignment in Game 1 with a scoreless inning that included one strikeout and one hit batter. He threw 13 pitches (eight strikes) in his fourth appearance with OKC this month…The three-time World Series champion and MLB All-Star was placed on the Dodgers’ 15-day IL June 20 with right elbow inflammation before being transferred to the 60-day IL Aug. 11.

-Bobby Miller (1-0) made his fifth appearance of the month with OKC as he continued his Major League Rehab Assignment in Game 2 and pitched 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing one hit with five strikeouts…Miller, who threw 49 pitches (33 strikes), has been on the Dodgers’ 60-day IL all season due to right shoulder soreness and was credited with the Game 2 win.

-The five runs allowed by OKC in Game 1 were the most allowed by the team in a game since a 13-7 loss to Albuquerque Aug. 11. Entering Wednesday, the Comets surrendered four runs or less in each of the previous 12 games (24 R)…On the other hand, the six runs scored by the Comets in Game 2 were the most scored by the team in a game since a 6-3 win Aug. 18 in Sugar Land.
