Game Summary: Zach Ehrhard hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning as the Oklahoma City Comets survived another close game with a 3-2 win against the El Paso Chihuahuas Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. El Paso (18-38/53-78) scored the opening run with a two-out single from Nick Pratto in the second inning. Oklahoma City (32-24/73-57) jumped ahead in the seventh inning as two runs scored when Ryan Ward hit into a fielder’s choice coupled with an El Paso throwing error. The Chihuahuas tied the game on a RBI single from Ethan Salas in the eighth inning. The Comets took the lead back one batter into the bottom of the eighth as Ehrhard belted a solo shot out to center field to secure a one-run Oklahoma City lead. El Paso got two runners in scoring position in the ninth inning before a pair of groundouts forced by Garrett McDaniels ended the game.

Of Note:

-Oklahoma City has won back-to-back games to tie the series at 3-3 heading into Sunday’s series finale…The Comets played in their sixth one-run game in the last seven contests and ninth in the last 11 games. Oklahoma City recorded its second straight one-run victory following three straight losses.

-Zach Ehrhard collected his second home run in three games and is up to 19 homers on the season. He’s collected a hit in each of the last four games, going 4-for-14 with two homers and four RBI. Ehrhard also scored his 103rd run and is tied for third alongside Esteban German (2005) in Bricktown-era single-season history.

-Emmet Sheehan fired 5.2 innings with one run, five hits, two walks and seven strikeouts. Across his last three starts with Oklahoma City, Sheehan has tossed 17.1 innings with one run, nine hits, six walks and 24 strikeouts.

-Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith continued his Major League Rehab Assignment and made his fourth appearance of the series with the Comets. He went 2-for-4 with two doubles while playing as the designated hitter…He was placed on the Dodgers’ Injured List June 11 with neck inflammation and was transferred to the 60-day IL July 21.

-Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Justin Wrobleski began his Major League Rehab Assignment with Oklahoma City. Wrobleski earned the win in relief as he tossed 1.1 innings with one run, three hits and two strikeouts. He threw 34 pitches (21 strikes) and was also charged with a blown save…The 2026 National League All-Star is currently recovering from right elbow inflammation.

-The Comets pitching staff struck out 13 batters for the second straight night. Oklahoma City reached double-figures for the third time this series and the team leads the PCL with 1,197 strikeouts this season.
