Owlz win wild ride in Ogden

Teams combine for 19 runs in extra innings

(Ogden) - The Orem Owlz and the Ogden Raptors combined to scored 19 runs in extra innings as the Owlz knocked off the Raptors, 15-12 in 12 innings on Saturday night at Lindquist Field.Ogden jumped out in front in the first inning, scoring three runs to take a 3-0 lead.

Ogden jumped out in front in the first inning, scoring three runs to take a 3-0 lead. The Owlz battled back to take their first lead of the game in the top of the fourth inning. D'Shawn Knowles put the Owlz on the board with a RBI single and Erven Roper drove in a run with a single to right, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Mario Sanjur lined a two-run double to left, giving the Owlz a 4-3 lead.

After Ogden tied the game in the eighth on a Matt Cogen double, the Raptors and the Owlz would head to extra innings.
Mitch Spires gave the Owlz their second lead of the game by chopping an RBI single to left in the 10th inning, putting the Owlz in front, 5-4. Ogden answered right back in the bottom half, tying the game on an Owlz error.
Knowles put the Owlz back in front in the 11th by lining a triple to left, giving the Owlz a 6-5 lead. The Owlz weren't done, scoring three more times in the inning to open a 9-5 lead. The Raptors had another answer scoring four runs of their own in the bottom of the 11th.
The Owlz took the lead back in the top of the 12th inning, scoring six runs, highlighted by a Knowles RBI double to left. The Owlz would have to hang on however as the Raptors scored three in the bottom half and brought the tying run to the on-deck circle before a double play ended the game, giving the Owlz a 15-12 win.
Dazon Cole (1-0) earned the win while Reza Aleaziz (1-1) was charged with the loss. The Owlz and Raptors finish the series on Sunday afternoon at 4:00.
