The Palm Beach Cardinals allowed a run in the first inning, and had any hopes of a late rally dashed by three Bradenton Marauders runs in the top of the ninth. Palm Beach would fall to their foes from the Gulf Coast 4-0 at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Thursday night.

A pair of Cardinals made their Single-A career debuts in the matchup. Starting pitcher Tink Hence allowed a run and struck out five over three innings pitched, with the Arkansas native fresh out of extended spring training. Right fielder Darlin Moquete has three at-bats in the eighth spot after being officially promoted to the roster Thursday afternoon.

Out of the bullpen, Alex Cornwell recorded two scoreless frames and Carlos Guarate surrendered no earned runs through four innings pitched.

Third baseman Osvaldo Tovalin went 2-4 for Palm Beach and left fielder Tyler Reichenborn drew a pair of walks. Even with the loss, the Cardinals maintain a 2-1 series lead over Bradenton. The teams are in action again Friday night at 6:30 p.m., with southpaw Chris Gerard taking the hill for the home team.
