After scoring 12 runs in the road trip finale on Thursday night, the Cardinals kept things rolling to start off a six game homestand on Friday night vs. the Hammerheads in a 10-6 victory. It was the sixth time Palm Beach scored 10 or more runs in a game, and first time all season they have done so in back-to-back games.
Julio Rodriguez hit his seventh home run of the season, a two-run shot to left that put Palm Beach up 2-0 in the second inning.
The Cardinals matched that in the third scoring another pair of runs on an RBI single from Nick Dunn.
In the fourth, Palm Beach continued to see success at the plate against Florida State League All-Star Jordan Holloway. After a leadoff walk, Nick Plummer hit a two-run homer to right field and made it a 6-0 ballgame. Later in the inning, with the Cardinals already up 7-0 courtesy of a Ramón Urías RBI single, Nolan Gorman hit his second home run in a Palm Beach uniform with two men on base extending the lead 10-0. In all, the first six Cardinals batters of the inning scored before an out was made.
The Hammerheads did not go down without a fight and scored single runs in the fifth and sixth inning.
Jupiter then put up a four spot in the seventh to make it a 10-6 ballgame. That's as close as the opposition would get as Patrick Dayton tossed a scoreless 2 2/3 innings to finish up the game.
Starter Perry DellaValle earned his fifth victory of the season after tossing 5 1/3 innings allowing two earned runs and seven hits.
At the plate, Plummer, Urias, Yepez, and Dunn all had multi-hit games. Noloan Gorman now has eight RBI over his last two games,
The teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow on Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4 PM with tickets and more information available at RogerDeanChevroletStadium.com
