Palm Beach entered Tuesday's doubleheader on a five game skid, and were able to end that streak and salvage one of the two games played vs. Jupiter.
In Game 1, Palm Beach fell behind early 1-0 before Evan Mendoza put the Cardinals up 2-1 with a two-run home run in the sixth.
Jupiter scored three times in the top of the ninth and had the tying run just 90 feet away, however Yeison Medina was able to retire the final batter and secure a Palm Beach win. Medina earned his first save of the season.
Cardinals' starter Evan Kruczynski cruised through the game, allowing just one run in five innings, striking out five.
In Game 2, Jupiter scored all of its three runs in the second inning and was able to keep Palm Beach off the board, limiting the Cardinals to just five hits.
In relief, Colton Thomson threw four shutout innings, surrendering just one hit while striking out four.
Paul Balestrieri, in his team debut, threw 1 1/3 shutout innings.
The teams will play the finale of the three game series on Wednesday night at 6:30 P.M. from Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
