Both teams began the game hesitant at the plate and striking out frequently. A total of eight batters were fanned through the opening three innings. Cardinals LHP Ian Oxnevad showed good command throughout, tossing 63 strikes on 91 pitches. Zeroes tallied the scoreboard through the 5th inning for both teams, but that would change in the 6th.

After recording two outs, Oxnevad ran into trouble, giving up an RBI double in the right-center gap. His day would be over after just 5.2 innings. In came Jacob Patterson for relief, but the Fire Frogs Jordan Rodgers jumped on him, belting a two-run home run to left on a ball that appeared to be a high flyer, but the wind just kept taking it. Now 3-0 Florida on top.
The Birds would cut into the deficit in the bottom half the inning. Evan Mendoza popped a blooper that landed in-between the right-fielder and second baseman. Around third came Jose Martinez to score. Fire Frogs now lead 3-1.
Hits were hard to come by in this one for the Cardinals, totaling just three. The next hit would come in the 8th inning by Chase Pinder, but nothing was able to come from it.
A three game winning streak coming into the game would end in this one as the Cardinals (7-4) fell to the Fire Frogs, 3-1.
However, they won the series 2-1 and will enjoy their first scheduled off day of the season Monday before hitting the road for a three game series in Bradenton.
