A game-winning single from Kelvin Alarcon in the eleventh inning lifted the Tri-City Dust Devils (4-3) to the 5-4 win over the Spokane Indians (2-5) at Gesa Stadium Thursday night. The Dust Devils came away with the victory despite finishing with six fewer hits than the Indians.
Tri-City and Spokane became the first two teams in the Northwest League to experience Minor League Baseball's new rule, where extra innings start with a runner on second base. After both teams scored a run in the tenth inning, reliever Steven Wilson kept the Indians scoreless in the top of the eleventh. Tri-City loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning, setting up Alarcon's deciding hit.
The Dust Devils will look for the sweep on Thursday night. The team will send right-hander Adrian Martinez to the mound. The Indians will counter with left-hander Jake Latz. It will be School Night presented by Pahlisch Homes and a $1 Family Feast Night sponsored by CO-Energy. Hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches, bags of potato chips, and 12 oz. Coca-Cola products are just $1 all night long. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
