Fantastic pitching led the Tri-City Dust Devils (15-16) to the 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canadians (15-16) on Monday night at Gesa Stadium. Tri-City starting pitcher Henry Henry delivered the best outing of the year for the team, throwing seven shutout innings against the Canadians.
The Dust Devils scored all the runs they would end up needing in the bottom of the first inning. The first two batters of the inning, Aldemar Burgos and Tre Carter, both drew walks and each would ultimately score. Vancouver did rally to score one run in the top of the ninth inning off of Tri-City reliever Nick Kuzia, but the Dust Devils were able to hang on for the one-run win.
Right-hander Adrian Martinez is set to start the second game of the three-game series on Tuesday night. The Canadians will counter with right-hander Josh Winckowski. It will be Dusty's Birthday at Gesa Stadium on Tuesday night. Kids are encouraged to come early to receive a piece of cake as part of the birthday celebration. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
