Round Rock Secures Series Win, Tops Las Vegas 4-3

Despite Being Out-Hit, Express Claim Victory over Aviators

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (21-16) defeated the Las Vegas Aviators (17-21) on Saturday night at Dell Diamond by a final score of 4-3. Round Rock secured the series win with the victory.

Round Rock reliever RHP Aidan Anderson (2-0, 0.77) tossed 2.2 shutout innings that saw three hits, one walk and six strikeouts en route to the win. Las Vegas reliever LHP Franciso Pérez (0-2, 5.12) was tagged with the loss after allowing two runs on three walks with one punchout in 0.2 innings. E-Train RHP Daniel Robert earned his first save of the season with 1.0 inning of relief that included one run, one hit and two strikeouts.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • The first run of the night came in the top of the first inning when Aviators CF Daz Cameron tripled to score SS Jacob Wilson, who had knocked a one-out single.
  • Last Vegas made it a 2-0 game in the fourth when C Carlos Pérez rounded the bases on a leadoff double, single from LF Logan Davidson and sacrifice fly from 3B Max Muncy.
  • Round Rock cut the lead in half with a run in the sixth inning. C Andrew Knapp was hit by a pitch, moved to second as DH Sam Huff grounded out then crossed home on a single from 1B Blaine Crim.
  • The E-Train took a 3-2 lead as Knapp drove both 2B Jax Biggers and 3B Jantzen Witte home with a single in the seventh frame.
  • Round Rock CF Jose Barrero scored the team’s final run of the night after being hit by a pitch in the eighth inning. Barrero stole second base before a double from Biggers sent him home and made it 4-2.
  • The Aviators worked at a comeback in the top of the ninth when a home run from 2B Zack Gelof cut the advantage to 4-3 with one out, but Express RHP Daniel Robert retired the final two batters on a groundout and strikeout to claim the win for Round Rock.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Round Rock LHP Jimmy Robbins recorded a scoreless outing on the bump, allowing just one hit during his 1.0 inning of relief.
  • Express 1B Blaine Crim earned a muti-hit performance, going 2-for-3, while C Andrew Knapp tallied a multi-RBI night with two.

Next up: Round Rock and Las Vegas meet for the final game of the series at Dell Diamond on Sunday afternoon. Aviators LHP Hogan Harris (1-1, 9.00) is scheduled to make the start against an Express pitcher to be announced. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. CT.
