Wappingers Falls, N.Y. (May 16, 2024) — The Hudson Valley Renegades used an outstanding start from Sebastian Keane and a four-run sixth inning to extend their winning streak to five games, defeating the Jersey Shore BlueClaws for the fourth consecutive time, 6-3 on Friday night.

Jersey Shore went ahead 1-0 in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly by Andrick Nava. Keane (2-3), settled in after that and was nearly unhittable for the rest of the night. In a career-high seven innings, Keane allowed just one earned run on three hits and struck out four while not issuing a walk. He retired the last 14 batters he faced and didn’t allow a baserunner after the third inning. He was the first Renegades pitcher to complete 7.0 innings in a game this season.

The Renegades struggled to generate offense early against Eiberson Castellano, who struck out seven in 5.2 innings. However, in the fifth Kiko Romero started a rally when he walked with one out and stole second. Cole Gabrielson drove him with a two-out broken-bat single to tie the game at 1-1.

In the sixth the Renegades took the lead with a big inning. Jesus Rodriguez walked with two outs and Omar Martinez moved Rodriguez to third with a single. Rodriguez then came home on a wild pitch to put the Renegades in front 2-1, with Martinez going down to second. Rafael Flores then drove in Martinez with a single, and Romero followed by launching his fourth home run of the season to right, making it a four-run inning for Hudson Valley and a 5-1 lead.

Flores finished the night 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI, and now has eight RBIs in his last six games.

In the eighth, the Renegades added a sixth run after Andrew Walling walked four straight batters to force in a run to extend the advantage to 6-1.

Jersey Shore got two runs back in the ninth against Cole Ayers. Otto Kemp drove in Cade Fergus with a single, and Leandro Pineda singled later in the inning to knock in Kemp. Ayers was then able to get the final out, retiring Felix Reyes to secure a 6-3 win.

Hudson Valley will look for their season-high sixth win in a row on Saturday night at 5:05 p.m., with coverage on the Renegades Baseball Network beginning with the Heritage Financial Credit Union Pregame Show at 4:45.
