Memphis loses late lead in series finale against Jacksonville 

Redbirds allow four runs in eighth inning to blow lead against Jumbo Shrimp

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Redbirds concluded a six-game homestand with a 5-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A, Miami Marlins) on Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.

Memphis took the lead with a pair of solo home runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. First baseman Luken Baker tied the game with a leadoff shot to left, his fifth home run of the season. Left fielder Jared Young took a breaking ball the opposite way for a two-out homer to take a 2-1 lead.

Starting pitcher Michael McGreevy allowed one run on seven hits, walked one batter and struck out four in 5.0 innings of work. In his first relief appearance of the season, Victor Santos (1-4) allowed four runs on four hits in 2.2 innings pitched.

The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park to begin a 13-game homestand against the Norfolk Tides on Tuesday, May 7 with first pitch for 6:45 p.m. CDT.
