Jaff Decker Ranked MLB's No. 50 Prospect

19-year-old led TinCaps with 16 home runs

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - OF Jaff Decker is rated the No. 50 prospect in all of Minor League baseball entering 2010 according to MLB.com. The 19-year-old was a cornerstone of the TinCaps' Midwest League championship club, batting .299 with 16 home runs and 64 RBI.

Decker was selected by the Padres in the supplemental first round (42nd overall) of the 2008 draft. In each of his first two professional seasons, his on-base percentage has ranked in the top four of Minor League Baseball. Decker was the 2008 Arizona Rookie League MVP. In 2009, he was selected to play in the Midwest League All-Star Game but did not play due to an injury.

MLB.com ranks prospects based on the players' upside and closeness to the Major Leagues and uses input from scouting directors, scouts and other industry sources. Decker checked in at No. 48 in MLB.com's rankings from mid-season 2009. The latest rankings were unveiled Wednesday night on MLB Network.
