GreenJackets drop 7-4 to Legends

April 29, 2013

In the top of the fourth, the GreenJackets put up three runs to overcome an early 3-1 deficit and take the lead. However, Augusta (15-8) could not hold onto their lead and lost 7-4 to Lexington (9-15) Sunday afternoon.

The GreenJackets put a run up in the first inning. Second baseman Trevor Brown doubled to right field, moved over to third when Mitch Delfino singled to third and then stole home.

Lexington answered back in the bottom of the first. The Legends scored three runs on just two hits to give them the lead.

After two scoreless innings, the GreenJackets' bats came alive.

With one out, Delfino got on base thanks to a line-drive single to left field, advanced to third when Ben Turner singled the opposite way and scored on a Rafael Rodriguez sacrifice fly.

Turner scored next for the GreenJackets. Chuckie Jones moved Turner to second on a single to center and he scored on a fielding error by Lexington's Raul Mondesi, which moved Jones to third.

Then with catcher Brad Moss at bat, Legends pitcher Aroni Nina balked in Jones to give the GreenJackets the lead.

Unfortunately, the GreenJackets lead was short lived. In the bottom of the fifth, Lexington's Bubba Starling hit a home run over the left field wall to make it 4-4.

Then in the bottom of the eight, the Legends put together a three run inning to give them the lead and the win.

This is the first game the GreenJackets have lost in their series against the Legends. They will wrap up the four-game series today at 10:35 a.m. then return home to host Hagerstown.
