Garrido Activated; White Released

Royals Activate RHP and Release Another

SPRINGDALE, AR - The Kansas City Royals announced two moves affecting the Northwest Arkansas Naturals roster this afternoon before the team's nine-game road trip opens in Springfield, MO.

The Organization has activated right-handed reliever Santiago Garrido from the 7-Day Disabled List and, in a corresponding move, released right-handed pitcher Cole White.

Garrido, a 23-year-old from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, pitched in seven games for the Naturals in 2013 tallying a 0-2 record with a 4.20 ERA across 15 innings of relief. He last appeared in a game on April 20th and was placed on the Disabled List on May 2nd.

The 25-year-old White appeared in seven games for Northwest Arkansas this season. He allowed two runs on seven hits and eight walks across 8⅔ innings, while striking out ten batters.

White was selected by Kansas City in the 6th round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft out of the University of New Mexico. Across five seasons in the Royals Organization, the Blossom, Texas-native holds a 9-4 record with a 3.54 ERA in 119 ⅓ innings, and has given up 112 hits, walked 79 batters, and struck out 116.

In 2008, White penned the song "Fight a Storm" with his high-school band, it was on the Grammy's ballot under Song of the Year and Best Rock Song categories.

Garrido will return wearing uniform number 22.

The Naturals roster remains at the Texas League limit of 25 players.
