'Hounds down Frisco in Lewis rehab

Martinez homers for the 'Riders lone run

FRISCO, TEXAS (July 22, 2013) - The Frisco RoughRiders fell to the Midland RockHounds 4-1 Monday night at Dr Pepper ballpark in game one of the home stand. Rangers' pitcher Colby Lewis made the rehabbing start for the 'Riders.

The RockHounds (13-17, 46-54) took an early lead. Conner Crumbliss led off the game with a double to the right corner, and then Jake Goebbert singled to bring home the run.

The RoughRiders (13-17, 52-48) quickly responded, tying the game off a solo leadoff home run by Teodoro Martinez in the first.

In the third, Crumbliss walked and then stole second, and D'Arby Myers singled. Max Muncy then knocked a single to shallow center to bring home both runs. Midland added another run in the sixth for a 4-1 lead with a single by Vinnie Catricala to bring Muncy home.

In his second start on this rehab appearance, Rangers' starter Colby Lewis (0-1) went three innings, allowing three runs off five hits with two walks and three strikeouts to suffer the loss. Murphy Smith (8-7) allowed just one run on six hits and struck out six in seven innings to earn the victory. Mike DeMark pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his fourth save.

The 'Riders continue their series against the Midland RockHounds at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Tyler Tufts (3-2, 3.42 ERA) will make the start for the RoughRiders against RockHounds' right hander Zach Neal (6-8, 4.62 ERA).
