Tanner Peters Named California League Pitcher of the Week
STOCKTON, Calif.-Following his near perfect game, Ports RHP Tanner Peters has been named the California League Pitcher for the week of August 5-11.
On August 9, Peters retired 25 straight Modesto Nuts batters, 14 via the strikeout before allowing a base hit, just two outs shy of a perfect game.
Peters has been a mainstay in the Ports rotation this season posting an 11-5 record, with a 3.84ERA. Over 143.0 innings he has struck out 132 batters and walked just 24. Since the All-Star break Peters has an impressive 3.12ERA with 56 strikeouts in 60.2 innings pitched while issuing 7 walks.
Peters was drafted by the Athletics in the 16th round of the 2011 draft out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
