Moran Named Pitcher of the Week

Moran did not allow a run in two games, gave up just four hits

PEARL, MS - Gary Moran was selected Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 19-25. Moran went 1-0 and did not allow a run in two games, one start, while giving up just four hits in eight innings pitched.

Moran, 28, is 3-2 with a 3.71 ERA in 12 games (six starts) with the M-Braves this season. He started the year with the M-Braves and made two starts before being placed on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Moran rejoined the M-Braves in early July and has bounced between the bullpen and the starting rotation.

A native of Madera, CA, the right-handed pitcher was signed as a free agent by the Atlanta Braves on June 7, 2011.He claimed the 2012 Southern League ERA Title and was selected as a 2012 Southern League Mid-Season All-Star. Moran finished the 2012 season with the second-best ERA (2.91) and the fifth-most strikeouts (117) in the Atlanta Braves organization.

Tonight, the M-Braves take on the Huntsville Stars at 7:00 PM. Mississippi concludes the final homestand of the 2013 regular season Tuesday at 7:00 PM. The M-Braves enter tonight's contest ranked third in the Southern League South Division, a game and a half out of first place. The Braves travel to Jacksonville for the crucial final five games of the regular season August 29 through September 2.
