MIDLAND, TEXAS (AUGUST 31, 2013) - Opening the final series of the season, the Frisco RoughRiders beat the Midland RockHounds by a 7-1 score on Saturday night at Citibank Ballpark. Midland's D'Arby Myers had his Texas League high 33-game hitting streak come to a close in an 0-for-4 effort.

After a perfect first inning, Zach Neal began to get knocked around by the 'Riders (30-38, 69-69) offense in the second inning. Kalian Sams picked up the first of his three hits on the night to lead off the frame. He scored two batters later on a RBI single from Joe Benson to make it a 1-0.

The 'Riders tacked on another in the fourth inning off Neal. It was Benson again, this time with a sacrifice fly, to extend the lead to 2-0. With a man on and two outs, Rougned Odor launched his sixth Double-A home run to knock Neal out of the contest and give the 'Riders a 4-0 advantage.

The RoughRiders got another solid start out of Phil Klein. He allowed just one run in three innings in his first start. On Saturday, Midland (28-40, 61-77) could not score off of him; he went 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball and allowed two hits and three walks. He also struck out six batters.

Frisco scored a pair of runs in the sixth. With a man on, Ryan Rua and Tomas Telis both knocked RBI doubles off of reliever Frank Gailey. With a commanding 6-0 lead, the 'Riders put one more on the board in the eighth inning and led 7-0 heading to the ninth.

Off of Kyle McClellan, Max Muncy clubbed a one-out double to right field. Down to their final out, Chad Oberacker rolled a ground ball through the right side to put Midland on the board and cut the lead to 7-1, which held up as the final score.

Richard Bleier (5-5) picked up the win with two scoreless innings. Neal (8-12) took the loss.

The RoughRiders play their penultimate game of the season on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. first pitch. Nick Martinez (1-0, 1.04 ERA) makes his final start of the season against Midland's Sean Murphy (8-7, 3.70 ERA).
