Vance Wilson to Manage Peoria Javelinas in Arizona Fall League

Naturals' Manager selected to represent the Kansas City Royals organization

SPRINGDALE, AR. - Vance Wilson, the manager of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, has been selected to manage the Peoria Javelinas during the 2014 Arizona Fall League season. Arizona Fall League Director Steve Cobb announced yesterday the organization and staff (managers, pitching coaches, hitting coaches, athletic trainers) assignments for the upcoming season.

The Naturals' skipper will manage a team, the Peoria Javelinas, which will consist of top prospects from the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Rays, and Kansas City Royals organizations.

In addition to Peoria, the league consists of the Mesa Solar Sox (Cubs, Angels, A's, Blue Jays, Nationals), Salt River Rafters (Diamondbacks, Rockies, Astros, Marlins, Twins), Scottsdale Scorpions (Mets, Yankees, Phillies, Pirates, Giants), Glendale Desert Dogs (Orioles, White Sox, Tigers, Dodgers, Brewers), and the Surprise Saguaros (Red Sox, Reds, Padres, Mariners, Rangers). Each team will play a game per day, six days a week (Monday - Saturday) in five (5) Cactus League stadiums.       

The Arizona Fall League is widely regarded throughout professional baseball as the "finishing school" for top prospects since its inception in 1992 as the six (6) team league features top prospects from every organization in Major League Baseball. Nearly 2,300 of over 3,900 players (58%) have reached the Major Leagues and the league has produced 212 Major League All-Stars, 12 Major League MVPs, 4 CY Young Award winners, 11 Major League Batting Champions, and 3 World Series MVPs.

The 2014 Arizona Fall League season will begin on Tuesday, October 7. Daily start times are at 12:35 P.M. and 6:35 P.M. for games held weekly, Monday through Saturday. The ninth annual Fall Stars Game will be played on Saturday, November 1 at Salt River Fields and the league's championship game will be held on Saturday, November 15 at Scottsdale Stadium.

Wilson will represent the Kansas City Royals as each team in baseball has at least one (1) person appointed to a position on one (1) of the six (6) teams in the league. The Arizona Fall League is owned and operated by Major League Baseball.
