FERGUSON, ADAMS SELECTED TO POST-SEASON ALL STAR TEAM

Naturals receive two selections for 2014 Texas League Post-Season All Star Team
August 28, 2014

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - RHP Andy Ferguson and outfielder Lane Adams each were selected to the 2014 Texas League Post-Season All Star Team as announced by Texas League President Tom Kayser Thursday afternoon.

Ferguson, drafted out of Arkansas State University in the 18th round of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft, made incredible progress throughout the 2014 season. The home-grown product, born southeast of Springdale in Benton, Arkansas, where he attended Benton High School, earns his first Texas League All Star Team selection, days after receiving a promotion to Triple-A Omaha. He allowed just six earned runs over his final five starts with Northwest Arkansas, while going 4-1 with five quality starts.

After a strong first half in which he posted a 4-6 record with a 3.84 ERA, he was absolutely dominant in the second half en route to earning the All Star Team selection. Ferguson notched two complete games to go with a 7-4 record and 2.20 ERA. Ferguson currently ranks in the top five among Texas League starting pitchers in ERA (2.93), Wins (11), Strikeouts (118) and innings pitched (147.2).

Adams, meanwhile, makes his second straight Texas League All Star Team after he replaced former Springfield Cardinal James Ramsey in the first half All Star Game. In spite of missing just under a month due to injury, Adams has posted stellar numbers in the second half posting a slash line of .319/.384/.556 while racking up 7 home runs and 14 stolen bases in 125 at-bats.

Selected in the 13th round of the 2009 draft out of Red Oak High School in Red Oak, Oklahoma, Adams has been rated as the "Most Exciting Player" and "Best Defensive OF" in the Texas League in 2014 according to Baseball America. He came in as the 18th best prospect in the Royals organization following the 2013 season.
