RoughRiders add Nate Lucas to broadcast team

St. Louis native brings big league experience to the booth
February 5, 2015

FRISCO, TEXAS (FEBRUARY 5, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders are pleased to announce the addition of Nate Lucas to the organization's broadcast team for the 2015 season. Lucas will join Riders broadcaster Alex Vispoli in the booth to deliver the play-by-play for every home game and will anchor the team's pre- and post-game coverage for every contest. He will also assist with the team's media relations and social media efforts.

Lucas has spent parts of the past seven years assisting with Major League Baseball broadcasts at Busch Stadium in his hometown of St. Louis, Mo. This included providing technical support as an on-site engineer, gathering highlights and player interviews, and serving as a radio booth assistant to St. Louis Cardinals broadcasters Mike Shannon and John Rooney. Lucas has also engineered NFL and NHL broadcasts in addition to working as a producer at The Big 550 KTRS in St. Louis.

A graduate of Webster University, Lucas has worked as a play-by-play broadcaster for Prepcasts.com, calling various St. Louis-area high school sports. While at Webster, he was active at the school's student radio station, calling Gorloks baseball and basketball games. He also founded DailyGrindSports.com, a sports website covering local and national sports, and served as a chief contributor.

The RoughRiders are excited to add Lucas to an impressive list of young broadcasters who have called Riders games and successfully advanced their careers in baseball. Frisco's last four broadcasting & media relations assistants will all open the 2015 season as lead broadcasters in Minor League Baseball:

  • Chris Vosters (2014 RoughRiders broadcaster) is entering his first season as the voice of the Midwest League's Great Lakes Loons (Single-A, Los Angeles Dodgers).
  • Nathan Barnett (2013) is starting his second season with the Carolina League's Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Advanced-A, Chicago Cubs).
  • Geoff Arnold (2012) will begin his second season as the lead broadcaster for the Carolina League's Frederick Keys (Advanced-A, Baltimore Orioles); he spent 2013 as part of the broadcast team for the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Advanced-A, Kansas City Royals) in the same circuit.
  • Brian Boesch (2011) is entering his fourth season as the primary broadcaster for the Carolina League's Winston-Salem Dash (Advanced-A, Chicago White Sox).

Aaron Goldsmith, the Voice of the RoughRiders during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, currently serves as one of the radio broadcasters for the Seattle Mariners. He joined the Mariners in 2013 after spending one season as the lead broadcaster for the International League's Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, Boston Red Sox).

Every RoughRiders game can be heard at www.RidersBaseball.com, via the RoughRiders' mobile app (available on Apple and Android devices) and through the TuneIn Radio app.
